New Immigration and Nationality Fees from 6 April 2018
Friday 6th April 2018
The Home Office published the new immigration and nationality fees that will apply to all Home Office applications submitted on or after 6 April 2018. They represent an increase on the charges for 2017/18, although the rise is not so swingeing as in previous years.
In many categories fees go up by 4%, including Points Based System applications for Tier 1 Investor and Entrepreneur, Tier 2 General and Intra Company Transfer, Tier 4 Student, and Tier 5 Temporary Worker and Youth Mobility Scheme categories. The fees for the Home Office Same-Day Premium Service are now £610. Certain nationality applications have gone up 16%, making a Naturalisation application cost £1,330. The fee for an Indefinite Leave to Remain application is now £2,389. The fees for EEA applications have not been affected and will remain £65.
This is all before the immigration health surcharge is added to the cost of an application. It is set to double at some point in 2018, which will mean an extra £400 per year per migrant for all limited leave visas other than visits (£300 for students).
It is not just individual migrants who are being squeezed for fees. The Immigration Skills Charge impose on employers who recruit foreign workers from outside the EU a charge of £1,000 per worker per year. A lower charge of £364 per worker per year is applicable to small businesses and universities and some exemptions apply. The charge only applies to new recruits.
